MEDINA JUNCTION, Gbarpolu County — A 75-year-old woman, Ma Zone Sirleaf, has expressed joy over the ongoing extension of electricity infrastructure into Gbarpolu County, presenting a chicken and kolanut to Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) workers in appreciation of their efforts.
Ma Sirleaf made the presentation on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Medina Junction, where workers are installing electricity poles along the route from Bopolu City toward Compound Sue Junction.
She described the development as historic, saying it was the first time in her 75 years that she had witnessed electricity infrastructure being extended into the county.
“I am happy. I see current coming. God will help our Papay. Thank you plenty,” she said, expressing gratitude to the government and the workers.

Meanwhile, Engineer Ajima Mohammed of VoltTech Electric Consultancy LLC, one of the contractors handling the installation, said his company had signed a two-month contract and had installed or positioned approximately 60 poles between Medina Junction and the checkpoint.
He projected that electricity would reach Bopolu City by December 15, 2026, adding that communities along the route would also benefit.
“Our mission is to bring current to Bopolu City. We will not leave any village behind,” Mohammed stated.
Separately, Landstar Engineering is installing electricity poles from Tubmanburg toward Sawmill, along the route leading to Gbarpolu County.
The ongoing works are part of efforts to expand electricity infrastructure into the county, raising hopes among residents for improved household living conditions and increased economic opportunities.
