Deputy Speaker Fallah Urges Lawmakers to Resume Work Amid Delayed Benefits

MONROVIA, Liberia — Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Thomas Fallah has urged lawmakers to return to legislative duties amid concerns over delays in the payment of their legitimate benefits.

In a message addressed to his colleagues, Fallah acknowledged that the benefits remain overdue but said efforts are ongoing under the leadership of Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon to engage relevant government institutions and facilitate payment.

He expressed optimism about the outcome of those engagements, saying the signals received so far are positive and that he expects the matter to be resolved soon.

However, Fallah appealed to lawmakers to resume work as the House enters the third quarter of its third session, emphasizing their constitutional responsibility to legislate, conduct oversight and represent the interests of the Liberian people.

He warned that continued absence from the legislative chambers could delay national progress and weaken public confidence in the institution.

“While we fight for our rights, we will never abandon our duty to them,” Fallah said, urging his colleagues to demonstrate patience, unity and leadership while efforts to address their concerns continue.

The Deputy Speaker maintained that lawmakers must balance their demands for overdue benefits with their obligation to serve the public, stressing that the country’s legislative work should not be neglected.

He concluded by calling for solidarity among members of the House, expressing confidence that the benefits issue would be resolved while urging lawmakers to prioritize their responsibilities to the nation.
