PAYNESVILLE, Liberia — Forty young women from Effort Baptist Church have completed a 13-week vocational program sponsored by Deacon President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, earning certificates in fields including cosmetology, baking, pastry making, and tailoring.
The graduates were recognized on Sunday, October 11, 2026, during a worship service at the church in Paynesville City.
According to the leadership of the Baptist Young Women (BYW) group, Boakai’s sponsorship supported the initiative, which seeks to equip young women with practical skills for employment, entrepreneurship, and improved livelihoods. The group expressed appreciation for his contribution.
Organized by Effort Baptist Young Women, the program reflects the church group’s commitment to personal development and economic empowerment. The skills acquired are expected to help participants pursue income-generating opportunities and contribute to their households and communities.

However, turning these skills into sustainable livelihoods may depend on access to equipment, start-up capital, and viable markets for their products and services.
The worship service also featured a sermon by Rev. Monen J. Duoe, who preached from Romans 12:1–2 under the theme, “Living the Christian Life in Today’s World.”
His message focused on applying biblical principles to everyday life and maintaining Christian values in contemporary society.
The service concluded with the congregation celebrating the graduates’ achievement alongside its regular worship and spiritual reflection.
